Mary Queen of Peace was officially opened and dedicated on Sunday 16 th October 1988 by Most Rev. Dr. Francis Gerard Brooks, Bishop of Dromore, having taken fourteen months to build. During the building of the church a time capsule was built into the church containing a local paper and other items of interest at the time.

Work on the new church began in August 1987. The architect was Mr Felix Forte of McLean & Forte, the builders were Messrs Felix O’Hare & Co and Mr Jack Caulderwood designed the stained glass windows.
